Using stem-cell models of the lung to identify cellular therapies for Rhinovirus

About the project:

Rhinovirus infections typically cause the common cold, contributing substantially to health and health-related loss of productivity. In addition, rhinovirus infections are a major cause of (i) wheezing illness in children, (ii) exacerbations of all chronic lung diseases, (iii) severe lower respiratory tract infections and (iv) pneumonia.

We will use a human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) model of the lung to explore and identify cellular-based therapy options to prevent or suppress rhinovirus infection.
