Screening new treatments for rare childhood kidney disease

About the project:

No treatment other than dialysis and transplantation currently exists for children with inherited kidney disease.

In this study, researchers will use human stem cells to model a rare but severe paediatric kidney disease, called nephrotic syndrome. In the lab, we will grow the affected cells of the kidney is a dish, and then test thousands of known drug compounds with the aim of identifying treatments for this life-threatening condition.

Lead researcher: Dr Aude Dorison

Tissue of interest: Kidney
