Modelling childhood leukaemia to better understand the disease
About the project:
Leukaemias include a mix of cells, often carrying complex combinations of mutations, including 'driver' mutations that initiate the transformation to malignancy, and secondary mutations that are acquired during evolution of the disease. Current studies rely on these complex patient leukaemia cell samples or leukaemia-derived induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) lines to study disease and to identify treatment options. The aim of this project is to generate better models of paediatric AML in human pluripotent stem cells to increase our understanding of how leukaemias develop and how the disease progresses.
